Vintage anything

I like old stuff.  The more beat-up, well-used, worn-out, chippier-paint the better.  I go shopping at the dump (this town has the best dump in the world) and I love yard sales.  When we lived on the island years ago we went yard saling every Saturday morning and it was by far the best junking spot I’ve ever found …. I don’t think anything had left that island in the last 75 years.  We scooped up quilts, Fiestaware, old books, Sterling and silverplate, and Bakelite napkin rings (for 25 cents!).  Naturally I still have all those treasures, even though I have way more cool stuff than one person needs.  My favorite “look” is Colonial but I have a very soft spot for 30s-40s-50s china … LuRay, Hall, Fiesta, Roseville, Hull, and (my current favorite) Harlequin.  My cupboards are full, the china closet is full, my collection has even spread into the screen porch.  Having said that, though, doesn’t stop me from looking forward to a new crop of barn sales this spring…
