Every winter, at the south end of the lake in Alton, a landing strip is plowed out on the ice for small airplanes to land. For us Northwesterners, it’s scary enough to watch cars on the ice in the middle of the lake, but take a close look at this guy – or rather, where exactly he is. The zoom lens of the camera has foreshortened it some, but see those red signs on the shore? The ones that say, “Danger – thin ice”? He is not that far from them! The signs are there to warn that there are agitators in the water so that those docks don’t freeze up, but still …. I’m glad I wasn’t out there!
